The Xperia Tablet Z is finally here! It comes in two colors, black and white. The site linked is the Japanese one and we’ll be translating it over here for you guys!
The device is only 6.9mm thick and 495g in weight. What’s amazing still is that the device is also water and dust resistance! Based on these specs alone, it may seem as if the screen size will be smaller than the leading high end tablets. Instead, the Tablet Z spots a 10.1″ WUGXA Reality Display (Mobile Bravia Engine should be able included but we’re not sure which version). This led us to ponder if the Tablet Z will come with an OptiContrast Panel and sensor on lens technology just like the Xperia Z.
The Tablet Z also features a 8.1MP Exmor R sensor with Full HD video recording capabilities. There’s no news of a front camera but based on the pictures alone, there seems to be one.
Powering all these is a 1.5Ghz Quad-core processor with LTE connectivity. We’re placing our bet on the same processor that the Xperia Z is using, the Qualcomm S4 Pro with Adreno 320 and 2GB of RAM. With the new technologies launched in CES 2013, this device also supports NFC and probably the one touch mirroring function with the latest Bravia TVs. There’s Xperia Link on board to link both smartphone and tablet together too!
**NEW ADDITIONS IN SPECIFICATIONS**
The Tablet Z also comes with a 6000mah battery, 32GB of flash storage and a microSD slot (supports up to 32GB).
Last but not least, the Xperia Tablet Z will be launched with Android version 4.1 and will get a 4.2 update after launch. What do you think about the new Xperia Tablet Z? We think that Sony has raised the standards for themselves to challenge the mights of leading tablet brands. In a competitive mobile market, the Xperia Tablet Z will be the choice for us. The water and dust resistance feature is something that will come in handy if coffee were to spill on a clumsy morning.
