Xperia Z vs Xperia V (Day shots compared)

In our previous post, we compared the night shots between the Xperia Z and Xperia V. This time round, we’ll be comparing some day light shots between the two 13MP shooters! Both phones come with HDR mode for still images, but the Xperia Z comes with an upgraded Exmor RS sensor as compared to the Xperia V’s Exmor R sensor.

Pictures taken with the Xperia Z are on top, and Xperia V on the bottom.DSC_0066 DSC_0026DSC_0069 DSC_0027DSC_0070DSC_0028We personally feel that the differences weren’t as huge as the night shots. But if zoomed down to the finest details, the Xperia Z will do slightly better in terms of sharpness and clarity!

Xperia Z vs Xperia V (Night shots compared)

We’ve just gotten our hands on a Xperia Z test set and we’ll be running various comparisons tests with the Xperia V. The first test will push both cameras to the limits. Both phones spot a 13 MP shooter with HDR and Sony’s very own Superior Auto mode. Day shots will definitely look good on these two devices, but what sets them apart would be the night shots. We’ve put the Exmor RS sensor (Xperia Z) to test against the Exmor R sensor (Xperia V).

It’s quite clear, even without annotations, that the Exmor RS sensor for the Xperia Z is the clear winner. We’re very excited to test more functions out, and we’ll be sure to update it on our blog asap!

Mobile Bravia Engine 2 explained!

One of the main features of high-end Xperia devices would be the Mobile Bravia Engine (MBE). We get better contrast, sharpness filters, noise reduction and color management. Now on the latest Xperia devices, Sony is introducing an updated version called the MBE 2. Let’s take a look at the new additions that Sony has infused into its latest models, the Xperia Z/ZL/V:

The two new features of MBE2 include better contrast and sharpness algorithms. This brings about better viewing experience with more dynamics, clearer and sharper details on videos and pictures.

Review of Nillkin Casing for Xperia V (Smooth Diamond)

As promised, we are here to deliver the review of the slightly different Nillkin casing that was mentioned in the previous review. This new casing works just as well as the previous matte casing, or even better. How is that so?

Firstly, it comes in an even more fitting design and also a greater variety of colors (galaxy black, baby pink, bumblebee yellow and royal blue).

Same as the previous casing, the fitting design ensures no hindrance to the camera or any of the external ports, allowing full accessibility for file transfers and charging without having to remove the casing.

The main difference between this and the matte casing lies in its material. This time round, the hard casing has a smoother touch and a diamond-like finish, making its colors more outstanding. For those of you who want that bit more of vibrancy, this may be the one you are looking for.

Review of Nillkin Casings for Xperia V (Matte)

Remember the Nillkin casing introduced a few days back? In order to ensure absolute satisfaction for our users, we decided to try out the casing ourselves! And it had proven itself by providing great protection against dust, scratches and even to a certain extent, shock.

The fitting design of the casing also guarantees usage convenience. It does not hinder buttons, camera, or any of the external ports, allowing users to conveniently plug in their earpieces or USB cables.

Furthermore, the hardiness of the poly-carbonate also allows users to use their phones under almost any kind of environment without having to worry about damaging the phone body.

As for those who are worried about those occasional slips, here’s a good news. The Nillkin casing comes with a smooth and matte finishing that gives a good and sturdy grip on your phone.

And all these come without compromising the slimness of your Xperia V. What more can you ask for? 🙂

Up next, we will be bringing you another set of Xperia V casings by Nillkin as well, but with that slight tinge of difference. So, stay tune!

We love our Xperia V as much as you do. Protect it the way we do.

We’ve got an awesome casing to share! It comes in three amazing colors: Black, Red and Brown. Be sure to check out our full review in a couple of days time. We’re sure that you’ll like it! Here’s a preview to keep your eyes feasting.

Oh, and did we mention that the casing’s by Nillkin? P.S. it’s dust resistant like the Xperia V is!

Xperia V, Sony’s first LTE smartphone is finally here!

Branded as the “Bond phone” for the Singapore market, the Xperia V packs a bunch of new features that enhances your media experience. These amazing new features can be classified under Create, Listen and Watch.

Create

The Xperia V boasts a 13MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor (labelled as Exmor R) that is complemented by HDR and SuperiorAuto. Still images will be chosen from the best of nine scenes in-built in the phone via SuperiorAuto. Then HDR snaps another two images with different exposure and matches the best result possible to produce that wonderful work of art. The phone also spots a VGA front camera capable of internet video calls (i.e. Skype, Viber etc.) Click here and here for sample pictures taken by the 13MP shooter.

Listen

The Xperia V flaunts its soul-shaking clarity audio quality with the latest WALKMAN player. It packs features like clear stereo, dynamic normaliser and surround sounds to choose from. ClearAudio+ automatically adjusts all these and the frequency of the music to produce the best possible sound.

Watch

The Xperia V spots a 4.3″ HD Reality Display (342PPI) that is powered by the brand new Mobile Bravia Engine 2 (MBE2). MBE2 introduces two new features on top of the existing Mobile Bravia Engine (MBE), an advanced contrast enhancer and a sharpness filter with content adaptive edge enhancer. In simple terms, better contrast and sharpness. Sony also introduced two new hardware technologies to work hand-in-hand with the MBE2, a sensor-on-lens touch screen (less haze, thinner phone and a direct touch experience) and an OptiContrast Panel (minimal reflection, natural colours and all black front in standby). Put all these new features together and you get a smartphone with the brilliant visuals of a BRAVIA television, yet retaining a slim and light chassis.
